Great location.
We stayed here in December 2012 and had a great time. Yes, the apartment was basic and in need of refurbishment, so don't go expecting luxury until they have been done up. It's the location of the resort which made it so special. The resort is expensive and this is a good option if you don't want to camp or have shared facilities or pay the hotel prices. The supermarket is near by and we ate in every night. The heat is incredible and the air con worked a treat. It's worth walking over to the viewing area to see ayres rock but I would definitely recommend doing the sun rise tour.

Good for the location
Everything in the Red Center is expensive, but for parties bigger than 2 the Emu Walk apartments are a great decision. Very close the the IGA and basic ammenitities for cooking. They staff told us at check in there was an oven, but there was only a stove. Ate in most nights due to the expense of the restaurants, but very capable kitchen for a couple nights. The only bottle shop is at the Pioneer Outback hotel bar and they can only sell you 1 6pack per person per day, but they don't enter it in the computer so if the staff has changed you can buy a 2nd one later in the day.

Shabby apartments let down a fbulous experience
First off let me say Uluru and Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) is a must for everyone to experience. Its a truly unforgettable experience. The big let down is the resort facilities. They are tired, tardy and suffering from TLC.Our first apartment was 209. It had a very strange odour about it and had an air conditioner that only ran at full speed, the noise of which was like an aircraft about to take off.(So much for "touch the silence"). There were large chips out of the corners of the walls from careless baggage navigation, edge veneers on cupboards missing and a very unwelcoming shabbiness about the whole apartment. After a sleepless night we complained and were moved to an apartment in which you could control the air con. This was 308 and a much better apartment. As this was the same price as 209 one has to wonder why 209 should have been let at all. There is still a very low budget feel to these apartments, which is certainly not reflected in the price. A spruce up and change of colour scheme would do wonders. The resort itself is reminiscent of a 70's university campus, and again its in desperate need of maintenance. On the positive side the staff are wonderful, the food in the deli, the village restaurant and the take away is exceptionally good and well priced. Our deal with Emu Walk also included breakfast in the hotel dining room and this was exceptionally good as well. When everything else with the area is so good its a shame that the resort dose not maintain the same excellent standard.

Fantastic weekend in the Red Centre
We stayed at Emu Walk Appartments over the ANZAC long weekend. We had a wonderful weekend with perfect weather, visting Kata Tjuta, Uluru and Kings Canyon (well worth the long trip). The resort seemed quite quiet but everything ran extremely smoothly, from the free shuttle from the airport to quick check-in at the appartments, booking tours, school holiday activities...The appartment was fine - spacious, clean and well equipped. To be honest we really didn't spend too much time there as we were out most of the days we were there but it was more than adequate when we were there. We ate at the restaurants sometimes and catered for ourselves at other times. There is a great supermarket where you can buy just about anything. In summary, we had a great trip and I really recommend it, the Red Centre is totally beautiful and unique. The resort feels like a real little village and is well equipped. It's all a little pricey than you would pay in the city but lets face it, with the nearest town 500 kms away, you can't get much more remote than that! If we were to go again, we would probably hire a car and travel around independently rather than the coach tours as I'm sure it's a much cheaper option but apart from that, I wouldn't have changed a thing.
