A pleasant surprise
We booked a two-night stay at Berida Manor with some trepidation after reading some really bad reviews, but found it very pleasant, clean and tidy and well maintained. We liked the traditional country house ambience (there's a suit of armour in the lobby!) and saw no evidence of the lack of maintenance mentioned in one or two other reviews. The room was average size, light and airy with adequate storage space and a decent, though basic, bathroom and shower.Apart from terrible coffee, breakfast was good and a full breakfast was included in the price. Overall Berida Manor compared favourably with other hotels/motels we have stayed at in the vicinity. We will certainly consider staying there again.

Southern highlands break
Stayed at this hotel for four nights in April, after reading reviews we were not sure what to expect. Although it is old world, lovely building, large lounge with open fires when lit, had a large front room with bay window, old style but very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was of a good standard with hot meals served to order, very nice. Unfortunately the only disappointment of our stay, the dining room was closed for the four nights which was very inconvenient to go out on cold nights looking for restaurants. In this instance management should have made alternate arrangements. Overall, a good stay and would recommend to other travellers.

Desperately needs painting & maintenance
I know I will be attacked in the reply but I feel I need to state my feelings on my recent stay. We were very much looking forward to finally getting to stay Berida. Parents had stayed here a number of times in 80s... but I don't think it has had much attention since. On first glance it looks pretty and cozy but is in dire need of money being spent on it. Paintwork needs doing if only to maintain the integrity of the property, right from front entrance paint is peeling, the Japanese style bridge over the putrid pond is falling apart and most of the paint peeled off. Furniture is chipped and damaged, wallpaper is lifting in many places, lounges in guest lounge should have been disposed of years ago - seat cushions have almost disappeared and uncomfortable - it was a cold night and no heating in the room. A mish-mash of decorating styles, paintings dated and look like thrift shop finds - very jarring. We did use the pool and spa which were OK but these too need attention - wooden ceiling slats in spa are damaged and need repair/replacement. The spa water was scummy and I immediately had a hot shower after. We had dinner in the dining room which was pleasant but the shanks were hot and cold in places (re-heated?) and I was very worried about my friend's entree of scallops, some of which were not completely cooked and she left these (not deducted from bill). Serving staff were very nice though seemed overworked. I would have spoken with the manager/owner or whoever the person at the desk was but not once did he acknowledge our coming or going by smiling or even lifting his head or say goodbye (nor offer help with getting bags upstairs) and therefore I did not feel comfortable in approaching. Needs a cold hard look being taken at its sad state and many gallons of paint! We wont be back nor would we recommend.

Good country stay
Berida Manor is located immediately next door to Bowral Golf Club and is therefore perfectly located if you are planning golf.It is quite old but in good condition with large, comfortable - and importantly at Bowral - warm.Plenty of parking and a reasonable restaurant. The manager was friendly as were the staff we encountered.Breakfast was about 2-star but quite acceptable with a range of cereals and breads for toasting. Pre-cooked scramble eggs and stewed coffee let the side down a bit.Overall quite satisfactory.

Shades of Fawly Towers
Our recent stay here was a huge disappointment - on arrival we were allocated a room that was different to our clearly stated preference on the booking confirmation. One wonders if these booking confirmations are even looked at.We chose this Hotel because my husband was having a procedure done at the local Hospital and it would have been an easy solution for me having meals by myself as he was fasting. Not so - the Dining Room was closed for Dinner on both nights of our stay - due to illness - surely there are casual relief cooks in Bowral who could have been employed, there were quite a few other guests staying there who also had to make other arrangements. Not good enough. Our room was adjacent to the carpark and consequently was like Pitt Street with lights blazing all night long and not even decent blockout curtains. We were lucky to get 3 - 4 hours sleep each night. Beds and pillows were hard, lumpy and uncomfortable. Room was tired looking with worn carpet, en suite bathroom was tiny with miniscule wash basin - impossible to fill the electric jug with water from the spout.D¿¿cor very heavy, oppressive wallpaper and ark wood panelling. Also could have been a lot cleaner.
