A nice comfortable place to stay.
We stayed at Lyndoch Hill for 3 nights, the rooms were nice comfortable and warm, now I'm very picky when it comes to hotel/motel showers and the showers here were absolutely fantastic, hot with plenty of pressure (it's the small things). The staff were very accommodating and very friendly. The restaurant was a surprise, the breakfast was nice and very fresh, probably one of the nicest mueslis I have ever tried, we had dinner on our last night at the restaurant and the quality of the food and service was certainly more than expected (what a culinary delight)If you are heading to the Barossa region and are looking for a nice comfortable well price place to stay which is close to everything I wouldn't look past Lyndoch Hill.Thank you Lyndoch Hill for a very pleasant visit, look forward to booking with you for our next.

Nothing like the photos!
Not sure where or when the photos were taken for the web site but our room was a disgrace. The bathroom basin was all cracked, the tiles in the shower were not only lifting off the wall but also full of built up scum, the tiles on the floor were so old it reminded me of the 60's, as did the cupboards in the sleeping area. The carpet was frayed around the fridge and looked like dead maggots had been having a feast - the toilet had a septic smell the entire time, there was only lighting under the pelmet over the window and none anywhere else in the main room. Both pools were filthy and not healthy to swim in. It looked like no maintenance had been done for many years. When I asked for touring club discount (10%) they said the rate was already discounted and yet when I look at the booking chart on their web site, we paid top dollar for a room that I wouldn't let my dog sleep in. What a rip off! I would not even regard this place as a Budget motel, it was an absolute disgrace. Never again!

Merlot House
We spent 2 nights at Lyndoch Hill in the Merlot house. It is a 3 bedroom house on the property - just around the corner from the main area. Its a well maintained 1970's ish house. Just a normal house not a chalet or resort penthouse 3bedroom room. A house. We were just 2 people, and coming from a very tiny flat in Sydney we enjoyed the space the house offered. Also the full kitchen was great although we only really used the fridge. The heating was adequate for the lounge room, hall, and bedroom we were using. The location is nice and central. We did see the other rooms as we walked to breakfast and we were happy that we chose the house. We paid the extra to have the breakfast included we ended up only eating toast and juice but there was cereal and yoghurt and fruit on offer as well.Location and price made this a very attractive hotel and with the space of the house we enjoyed our stay, my partner even commenting that he wished we had just stayed there the whole time.

TRAVELLER BEWARE - don't be fooled by the pictures advertised, not all rooms are up to that standard, not even close!
My husband and I decided to try somewhere new for our wedding anniversary and stumbled across this venue via the Barossa Council website. The prices seemed reasonable, the picture of the rooms looked simple but nice (in line with what we were going to be paying). Upon arrival, we were 'greeted' by a staff member who was busy on the phone organising a booking for the restaurant. Despite having to wait a while for the phone call to be completed, we were encouraged by the promises told to the customer over the phone ('we will do our very best to look after you' etc). However that's the positive part of the story. Our room was a disaster - threadbare carpet, water stains on the ceiling (above the pillows on the bed), musty smell, rubbish under the bed, duct tape around the toilet plumbing. Absolutely NOTHING like the pictures on the website. It was so bad we promptly called the Novotel to arrange alternate accommodation. Unfortunately, we had to stay the night at Lyndoch Hill. The walls are paper thin and we could hear the conversations of our neighbours. We decided to have dinner at the restaurant in the hope that it would help to salvage the night. The food was nice but not worth waiting for an hour or the expensive prices. The wine was very expensive (hard to overlook when you have bought the same bottle at the winery earlier that day for a fraction of the price!). And to top it all off, we were overcharged after staff forgot to take an entree that was unavailable off our bill (luckily my husband spotted that on return to our room). We promptly checked out the next morning, forfeiting our full fee. We left the above feedback via the feedback form. As yet, we have had no contact from the venue to address our concerns. In a nutshell, unless you are prepared to take your luck and get whatever room you are assigned (for good or bad), avoid this venue at all costs. It was not worth the stress, disappointment and financial outlay for accommodation that pretty much ruined our romantic weekend away.

Mediocre motel at best
Greeting was good, cheese plater and wine on arrival a nice touch.Toilet was filthy and not cleaned from previous guest. Broken light in the bathroom.Rooms are average motel standard and do not look like the website photos at all. Dirty plastic bags on the ground was the view from our room. Don't eat the Bircher muesli, never reccomending or coming back.
