Centrally situated, friendly helpful staff
What a pleasant 6 days stay, it wasnt a holiday, it was a business trip. From the start i was Greeted with a lovely smile from Hassain, checked in very efficiently, soon settled in my room. What made it really special is that Hassain remembered me from the reservation phone call I made the week before. Having read the 'awful reviews' I must say I was very impressed indeed. Yes it was noisy, at all times of the day and night, but what do you expect, being situated on Euston Rd, on top of Euston Tube and bang opposite United College Hospital!!! All of which you know if you have done your homework prior to booking. My room (104) wasn't small at all, a good size. Bed comfy, with lovely clean white bedding & plenty of pillows. Shower hot with a powerful spray, good quality soft towels, which were changed daily, even had, shower gel, shampoo, hand soap and hand cream, even the loo roll was quality. I requested a chair and it was there, no problem. Free safe, hairdryer, and daily replenished tea/coffee etc. Continental breakfast plentiful, no complaints at all. Didn't try any other meals as there were so many eating establishments around. Newspapers available daily, wifi in some rooms, but certainly in the lobby/lounge. I would certainly stay here again, I was most impressed, especially for the price. All the staff went out of their way to be helpful and friendly, that costs nothing and makes all the difference. If I could say anything negative at all, it is that some areas are ready for a bit of a redecoration. A big thank you to all on duty from 14th-19th May '13. Well done

The staff are this hotels greatest asset
The staff were friendly and efficient from the moment we checked in. Although we only stayed for one night, we had several examples of staff "going the extra mile" to assist. We were given a large and accessible room. Although on the ground floor, it was quiet and very comfortable. The only down side was a blocked shower drain. Good continental buffet breakfast. Price rather high, but reasonable for London, which is without doubt Europe's rip-off capital. A good location for Euston, St Pancras and Kings Cross stations and the British Library.

Beware the flying shower head!
Rooms clean, but small (even by European standards). Our adventure came when we arrived late at night (around midnight), checked in and tried to take a shower. The shower head flew off the wall, and the water started spraying everywhere in the closet-sized bathroom. Staff said they couldn't change rooms at that point because there were full, but called us at 7:30am to let us know another room was available. It took two or three separate explanations to different iterations of staff to get the word through to the right people to get 'er fixed.Good selection at breakfast, even for North American palates.OK, but not worth the $ paid.

Sleepless in London not Seattle!!!
Where should I start to ensure this review is fair and balanced? My stay at the Euston Square hotel was business not pleasure and paid for by my employer. First appearances in the lobby were favourable. Clean lines, minimalist and boutique just as advertised. However, as other Reviewers have noted the initial response from the reception staff was, shall we say, brusque! Demands for reservation numbers and a surly attitude did not make a very good first impression. The next shock was the room. Small would not really describe the 'double' room and the toilet/shower was even smaller. I am not a large person and I couldn't use the loo with any comfort as it was squashed into a tiny shower room. The shower cubicle was the same. The tiles were gruby and the flooring broken. The room was clean but tired and scruffy with the faux leather headboard peeling like it had psoriasis. The electrical sockets were rusty and some didn't work. The kettle had to be held at an angle to get it to boil! The wardrobe was so small only that the minimal list description is the best. That said, the bed sheets were clean and towels changed daily but the worst was yet to come. North Gower Street is opposite one of London's busiest highways and one of its busiest hospitals. Road noise was constant and intrusive and the sirens of emergency vehicles throughout the night made sleep high on impossible. And in the fact that the windows lacked curtains and the blinds let in daylight and the realities of sleep deprivation became obvious. Close Guantanamo and use the Euston Square and confessions will flow!!! On a more positive note, the bar/restaurant was fine. The bar staff were friendly. The menu, whilst limited after 5.30pm was good value and tasty and service was excellent. Breakfast was a basic continental but fine to start the day. All in all I couldn't honestly reccomend staying at this hotel for over ¿¿100 per night.

Tries really hard
Stayed here overnight and found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. check in was quick and easy. The room wasnt great, this place needs a big injection of cash to get it into the 21st century, It has the feel of a 1970s type hotel. However, the room was clean and the bed very comfortable. Close the blinds and shutters and there is no outside noise and there is the ability to control the temperature in the room. The shower left a lot to be desired and there was paper hanging off the wall. We needed to eat here after a work conference and we asked how late they would do food. We were told food finished at 10pm but we could ring and order if we were going to be a bit late. Despite the obvious neglect of the place we found the food to be really nice, fresh and tasty. We ordered dessert after 10pm, the chef said this was ok and it was brought to us. Unfortunately all of the beers and lagers had 'gone off' so we had to have a drink from the fridge (which cant have been on as nothing was cold!) I would say that this place is really tired and doesnt do justice to the staff who have to work in such a sub standard hotel. I would certainly not pay full price to stay here, but with a huge discount its absolutely fine for a one night stop off.
