I stayed there for one night, for business. The only reason why it did not receive a '5' was due to the size of the room. However the rooms were modern (including LED tv) and clean. The location is great. The staff were wonderful, polite and accommodating. The restaurant had a wonderful continental breakfast and had a wonderful atmosphere. This will definitely be my 'hotel of choice' on future trips.

I must admit that I was given the impression from their website that 'King Bed Waterfront Suite' was going to be something special with its 'Amazing Views' of the river. Well, it was just okay. It's an old hotel situated next door to the Spirit of Tasmania dock, which incidentally is a bit out of town on the Eastern side of Devonport. First impression was that it was a bit dodgy and although fully paid, we almost went elsewhere based on the location and the look of the place. However, there's not a lot of great accommodation in Devonport so we had a second look and checked in. Turned out okay. Bed was comfy, bathroom was clean if not new, fittings i.e., cabinetry etc in room was a bit old and flakey with scratched table etc. Door to room needs replacing. It's true that there's a view of the river but you can't keep the blinds open because there's a public thoroughfare in front. Dinner in the bistro was decent, again a bit overpriced, and breakfast was tasty. Personally I'd advise anyone touring Tasmania to give Devonport a big miss, but each to his own, and I guess if you're travelling on the Spirit of Tasmania this might be a good hotel for you.

This is a mixed bag that ticks the box for me. It has easy parking, is quiet (execpt when the Spirit arrives), is very clean and reasonably appointed. Walk out the door to a good running/walking track along the river and leading to the sea. It falls down in needing to get in the car to eat anywhere other than it's own restaurant and in lacking any atmosphere. The restaurant is a viewlesss room at teh back of the 'pub'

We were on the early morning sail of the spirit and this hotel is literally right beside the boarding area. It is simple, clean, comfortable bed and reasonably priced. The area around the hotel may be concerning, with the Neighbourhood not looking overly inviting, however if you want somewhere exceptionally close to the spirit of tasmania docks then this place does nicely.
