My wife and I stayed 8 days mid April in #111 and the place couldn't have been nicer for the tarrif paid. It was very clean, staff and manager friendly & every thing needed for your stay was supplied. Although it was the off season it was quiet but lots to see and do close at hand. Didn't have a car but bus stopped just outside the property and it was a short hop to a good grocery and liquor outlet or a 20 minute walk if you are up to it. Check in after hours worked fine, room numbers easily identified along with map in welcome package and key.

Stayed here for a week in April school holidays. We had ground floor unit opening in marina just opposite pool. Great location, bikes available to hire, walk to restaurants. Looking forward to our next holiday here.

We spent 3 nights here in a 1st floor 2-bdrm room and loved the views and location. However, the apartment itself, although adequate, was tired and dated, the dishwasher was falling apart (but still functional), and the washing machine was ancient. The lady who checked us in was courteous and efficient but certainly not friendly. The grounds and pools were nicely landscaped so, if the rooms were updated and modernised, this would become a much more desirable property.

I booked into a one bedroom suite with my fiancee to complete the final preparations for our wedding. We stayed here for 6 nights. We had a late check in as we were travelling quite late. The late check in system works great. Simple and easy. No worries there. We got to our room and noticed that nothing has changed or been upgraded for 10 years since I was last here. I thought the furnishings and bedding would have been quite modern and kept nice and tidy but I was wrong. The rooms are tired and in much need of a makeover. The spa/shower opening into the lounge room is a great asset, but has not been maintained. We had problems with the shower running out onto the bathroom floor everytime we showered. We had to set the shower curtain up in a very specific way to stop the problem cutting access to the taps and soap holder completely. We were requested to attend reception the morning after we checked in so I did and the receptionist could not find any paperwork for our booking and dismissed me basically. Not sure why I needed to attend at all. All was booked and paid for prior to arriving. In the 6 nights we spent there, our room was not serviced once. Not fresh towels, not fresh sheets, not laundry powder or dish liquid....nothing. Do not book here if you are after something modern and serviced. Budget accommodation is the best I would say. One positive is the views are amazing. We had a ground floor apartment and I am sure the views would have been much better up higher. But this did not suit us as we had much wedding items to cart into our room. No lift at all. Needs much work.

I booked a 3 bedroom penthouse for myself, for 6 nights, and was quite disappointed with my stay given the amount it cost.I arrived 30 minutes early, but the receptionist wouldn't let me check in early because they hadn't cleaned the rooms yet (whether they ever did never became apparent either way). After waiting, I was allowed to drag my bags up half a dozen flights of stairs to the apartment, which admittedly had an excellent view.Unfortunately the apartment itself was extremely dated and dirty, though the massive cockroaches that scurried across the floor at night seemed to enjoy it. An ancient phone offered dial-up internet but only if I already had a provider...I ended up paying a premium to use my own mobile ADSL internet instead, since it's the 21st century and all.There are no grocery stores located within walking distance of the hotel, so I ended up buying all of my food from a nearby restaurant (which delivered to other hotels but not this one). The hotel's location in general is very poor.I recommend avoiding BreakFree Great Sandy Straits. When a penthouse apartment can't deliver, I don't want to imagine what the cheaper rooms are like.
