The flight choices in red are Hotwire Hot Rates. Often the best rates available, they can save you up to 40% off last minute flights. However, they reveal trip specifics like number of stops, exact times, and airline information after you book so our partners can clear out their supply and sell inventory that would otherwise go unsold. That's why you get airfares well below many other fares out there. We think knowing a little less upfront can be well worth the savings you get.
If your schedule requires you to know your exact flight times before you book, your best bet is to book a regular-rate and not a Hotwire Hot Rate. This option enables you to see all of your flight details before you book. You'll see your exact departure and arrival times in your search results. If you don't find a flight that meets your requirements in these search results, you can find more of these on our affiliate Expedia®.
Hotwire Hot Rates offer our very lowest prices and are great for when you have flexibility. You don't have an assigned seat until check-in, nor do you accrue frequent flyer miles. You can pick your travel days when you book, but your times and your airline are chosen for you. But rest assured that we partner with a select group of airlines so you can be confident you're flying with a well-known airline. You'll see both your exact flight times and airline once you've booked your reservation.
You'll see fares designated as "0-1 stops" or "2+ stops" in your search results. Scheduled connection times for flights within the US and between the US and Canada are never more than 3 hours. Connecting times for international flights may be longer. Your scheduled departure time will be listed as "6am-10pm" or as "6am-2am," which means the flight departs after 10PM local time.
If you need to know exact flight times and airline names before booking, accrue frequent flyer miles, or need a little more flexibility for ticket changes, a regular-rate may be best.
If you booked a Hotwire Hot Rate, we'll tell you your exact flight times after you've booked your reservation.
If you booked our regular-rate, you'll see your flight's scheduled departure and arrival times in your search results.
When you book Hotwire airline tickets, we always show you the final price for round-trip travel per person in U.S. dollars, excluding any possible international airport departure taxes. Taxes are calculated in our total price, so our total price is the price you pay. Some airlines may charge a fee for checked baggage, meals, or in-flight services. If applicable, the airline will collect this fee directly from you.
Note: International airport departure taxes depend on your destination and are paid at the airport when you leave. Because the tax amount varies, we are unable to include this fee in your airfare total calculation. Departure taxes usually range from $5 to $40. We suggest you contact the airport or research the airport tax at your destination.
You can book up to eight airline tickets at a time. Selecting the maximum will limit your search to flights that have at least eight seats available. Due to seating availability, the airlines cannot guarantee that all passengers will sit together. You must enter the correct passenger name for each airline ticket you book. Names cannot be changed after booking and need to match the names shown on government-issued identification, so please be sure to double-check the information.
If you need to make a reservation for more than eight people -- which requires that you complete more than one booking on Hotwire -- we cannot guarantee that your entire party will be on the same flight. For example, your first booking may have taken the last eight seats on Flight 123. Therefore, when you conduct your next search, you may end up with seats on Flight 456. But if the flight is still available, you may be able to book the same flight with a retail fare. (Since fares change all the time, there is also no guarantee that seats booked on the same flight through multiple bookings will be at the same price.)
Remember, flexibility is key to increasing your search results. Try adding more airports or changing your dates. Or do a Flexible Date Search and search any 30-day period for our lowest fares in one step. What is Flexible Date Search?
If we don't serve your destination area, you can find many more choices on our affiliate Expedia®.
Domestic Travel: One child, less than 24 months of age, may travel free of charge within the U.S. when accompanied by an adult. Federal regulations permit adult passengers to hold an infant in their laps (under 24 months of age). If you do not want your child to sit on your lap for the duration of the flight or prefer the use of a car seat, you will need to book a separate airline ticket. In addition, the airlines permit only one lap child per adult traveler. You'll need to book an airline seat for each infant exceeding the number of adult travelers.
International Travel: When traveling internationally, all children and infants must have an airline ticket even if they will be sitting on an adult's lap. Airlines prefer children to remain properly secured in their seats during the flight. All passengers, including children and infants, are required to secure passports in their own names. (Because of our specially negotiated low airfares, Hotwire does not sell discount infant or child airfares.)
Hotwire does not offer any discount child fares. In many cases, the airfares we show you are lower than a standard discount airline ticket.
Yes. If you are booking our regular-rate, you can accrue frequent flyer miles. Just make sure to have your frequent flyer number handy when you book your reservation on Hotwire. If you don't have your number when you book your reservation, you can add it after by accessing your upcoming reservation in the My Account section of our site, or you can give your frequent flyer number to the airline agent when you check in. This does not apply to Hotwire Hot Rates.
An e-ticket (short for electronic ticket) is stored in the airline's reservation system and therefore eliminates the need for a printed airline ticket. Since all of the ticketing information is stored electronically, you will only receive an email confirmation. This confirmation, sent to the email address associated with your account, will contain the round-trip details of your flights.
When traveling, remember to bring a printout of the confirmation page (from our site) or a copy of your confirmation email. At the airport, you'll need to check in with the airline with a government issued photo ID (e.g., driver's license, passport) to receive your boarding pass. Many airlines will also allow you to check in online 24 hours prior to your departure to obtain a boarding pass. See the individual airline's website for details.
Your search results are available for the next two hours. This two-hour window is how we’re able to guarantee the availability of our low-priced fares. It also assures our airline partners that they are delivering their best deals to customers who are ready to book. If you’re not able to make a booking during the two-hour time window, you’ll be able to perform the exact same search after 48 hours. For more details, please see the FAQs in the "Customer Care" section of our site.
Each passenger listed in the itinerary must have the proper documents for entry/re-entry into a country. To obtain documentation requirements, contact the embassy or consulate of all countries involved in your itinerary. You can also contact your international carrier(s) for further information on any requirements that may apply.
International airport departure taxes are based on your destination and are paid when you leave certain countries. Because the tax amount varies, we are unable to include this fee in the total calculation of your airfare. Departure taxes usually range from $5-40.
